A new international school located in Hangzhou is looking for head of librarian for next year.

Overview: The head of librarian involves setting up the school library - an extensive facility, for success. The role will instill a culture of happily providing assistance to students and faculty with research and other information needs, and promoting reading and literacy. Additionally, they will plan and lead library programs & special events, manage the library budget, and supervise library assistants. Overall, the job of a school librarian is essential in supporting the educational mission of the school and fostering a love of reading and learning among students.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Be responsible for the overall library management including the operation system, budget, staff training, team building, etc.
2. Collaborate with the faculty in curriculum development, implementation and evaluation. Create an effective and informational learning environment for students.
3. Initiate programs to help students cultivate knowledge and skills which are required to better use library resources and facilitate their learning process. Evaluate and report on the effectiveness of library programs.
4. Develop, organize, and manage information resources which meet the educational, cultural and recreational needs of students and professional needs of teachers.
5. Build rapport and professional relationships with students, staff, and parents.
6. Attend professional meetings and ongoing learning initiatives such as workshops, lectures, conferences, and other events to expand professional networks.

Qualifications:
1. Strong knowledge of various literature genres, classification systems, and cataloging methodologies;
2. Proficiency in technology and information retrieval systems;
3. Possess necessary professional qualifications in information science and library management;
4. Worked in international or bilingual schools and managed an academic library;
5. Language proficiency in English and Chinese;
6. Possess excellent communication skills, especially in a cross-cultural environment;
7. Willing collaborator, sincere caregiver, and passionate educator.
